Four Friday Favourites

Welcome to my second edition of “Friday Favourites” – this week I’m lising four of the items on my Etsy favourites list.

My first choice this week is this stunning Lace Noir Vintage Olga nightgown, from TiaLey Vintage.  I’ve been eyeing off this one for a while 🙂  Almost looks like an evening dress, not a nightgown!

The next item on the list today is also a nightgown (I have a lot of these in my favourites list – wish I could afford to buy them all!).  This nightgown from Haute Country Vintage is in the most gorgeous shade of blue – I just love it!

I hope my husband is paying attention to the Christmas present hints here! 😀

Next up is this beautiful turquoise and sterling silver bracelet from Julie’s Jewels.  I love the colour of the turqouise, and I think it would go with so many outfits – you could wear it with casual or more dressed-up clothes.

Last, but most definitely not least, are these stunning Versailles earrings by feminesque.  I love the colour and the swirly shape.  The matching necklace is just as beautiful.  These are definitely one of my favourite Etsy jewellery items!

Inspire Me Thursday – Labels

Well, it’s been a hectic week, but I’ve finally gotten around to putting up something for this week’s Inspire Me Thursday.  I was lucky this week in that the topic fitted in well with something I had to do anyway – make labels for the wearable art pendants I was finishing for a custom order.

These labels are made with prints of my watercolour artworks.  They feature the name of the pendant (each pendant is titled and signed on the back) and state that the pendant is handpainted (makes a nice touch when giving the pendants as a gift).

I hope the recipient likes them!

In other news, I am thrilled that my Silver White Winter painting was chosen for Timothy Adam Designs’ Etsy Top 10! Check it out – the other items in the Top 10 are well worth looking at as well.

Friday Favourites

I mentioned in an earlier post that I am addicted to Etsy – not just selling my artwork there, but buying things.  I’ve decided to do a new weekly feature on my blog called “Friday Favourites”, where I list some of the items I have in my favourites list on etsy.

So, here is my first week’s selections!  Please check out the other items these sellers have to offer as well, and remember to support handmade!

First up is this beautiful butterfly tray from Island Girl Pottery.  It’s so pretty it’s almost a shame to cover it up with food!

These earrings from Stone Street Studio are called “Bittersweet”, but I think they’re just sweet!

More jewellery (lots of my Etsy favourites are jewellery – you can never have too much jewellery!) – I just love this Aqua Briolette necklace from The Zen Muse – although I must confess that I have no idea what Briolette means!  I think the colours is just gorgeous.

I love the combination of Science and Art, so when I saw these Jupiter earrings from Desert Artisan I fell in love with them!  (I shouldn’t really be advertising them here because I am totally buying them as soon as I have some spare cash!).  I’ve purchased from Desert Artisan before and the earrings and pendant I purchased were even prettier in real life than in the photo.

Inspire Me Thursday: Tree – Take 2

This week’s inpsiration topic over at Inspire Me Thursday is “Tree”.  Well, I love trees too much to just stop at one!

I’ve actually done several tree paintings this weekend but I thought I’d space them out a bit.

This one is called “Silver White Winter”.  I did the silver detailing with glass paint.  It keeps its shine and gives the painting a textured feel.

It’s a weird painting to do at this time of year, as it was stinking hot here today, but I am listing it in my Etsy shop and hoping that it’ll be picked for a winter feature, as it is winter in the northern hemisphere where most Etsy buyers are from!

Inspire Me Thursday – Tree

Could there be an Inspire Me Thursday subject more suited to my work than “Tree”?
I have always loved trees, ever since I was a child & spent most of my free time climbing the huge tree we had in our backyard. Trees feature heavily in my artwork.

I don’t really need an extra excuse to paint trees, and was planning to paint some trees this weekend anyway. I think I’ll be contributing more than one painting to this weeks theme!

My first painting:

What I wanted to do with this painting is to represent the fact that beauty does not mean looking like everyone else.  Being an individual and being yourself is more beautiful than becoming a carbon-copy of the ideals projected by the media.

Wearable Art

This weekend I’ve been working hard on a new venture – wearable art.

I’ve made a few pendants already.  Each one features an individually painted work of art.

Inspire Me Thursday – Spain

This week’s prompt on Inspire Me Thursday is “Spain”.  Having never had the opportunity to visit Spain, this was a tricky one for me – I was forced to resort to Google.

I typed “Spain scenery” into Google, and this is the first image that I really loved:

This photograph was taken by Graham Pritchard.  You can see some of his other photographs here.

I used this photograph as inspiration to paint a watercolour of this beautiful scenery.

As you can see, the painting is not exactly the same as the photograph – I used the photo as a jumping-off point, and let the painting develop in whatever directions felt right to me.
